Finally, here are the winners of the MMB Contest 2006! Thank you all for contributing your works! Although we expect to see more finished projects, you all did a very good job. Well done guys!
In Open Category we got several nice projects and we had some hard time to select the best one. As you can see, it's Sudoku. But the NumPuz and Math project were also very close! Unfortunately, NumPuz lost several points because of external files (rules are rules!) and Math lost few points because of some minor problems we noticed during playing it.
As you can see, we have two winners in Room Escape category ;) Well, we decided to award two guys in this category, because the Broken Door is the only "true" Room Escape game in this contest and while Zeek is maybe not pure Room Escape game, it's much longer game with a lot of good scripting behind it and it's also very fun to play. So even though it's not exactly according the "Room Escape" specs, we decided to award it is as well.
As for Screen Saver category, Expecto Patronus is unfortunately the only entry here. What to say about it? Well, I'm afraid, it's not our cup of tea. The main problem of this entry is that this program is neither true screensaver nor it have standard screensaver settings. But as there are no other participants, he won!

| When I first saw there will be a MMB contest soon, I was sure I will enter it. I didn't belive much in winning, but I thought I'd give it a try, at least for fun... So I needed an idea now... My dad likes Sudoku and somehow it occured to me I could make a Sudoku program. I said to myself yeah, I could do that, it shouldn't be that hard... Boy, was I wrong... I wanted to create a Sudoku generator, but that was too much to handle, at least in a so short time so I almost gave up when the big O saved me! He pushed me on another path - getting Sudokus from database instead of generating... So I went on with this and part by part, I actually did it... It took a lot of work and time, but I did it! There were nights when I was programming in to the wee hours, I couldn't stop myself! Constant work payed off, I made a lot of things, fixed a lot of things... Everything had slowly become one... Some things were easy to make by themselves, but combined with other things, it was a horror, but I made it! I'm really glad I did! I hope people will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it! And in the process, I hope I'll get a lot of suggestions and bug reports so I can fix everything and improve this program as much as I can! Thank you all VERY VERY much! And I'd like to congratulate every other contestant since every project was awesome! Thank you! | |

| Well, first of all, I want to thank the MMB Contest Team for organizing such a great contest and of course, for choosing us!! We didn't expect it, so it was a nice surprize!
We decided to make a roomescape game as we wanted to follow the type of game proposed by the Contest Team, but also, because we believe that it's the type of game where MMB can come closer to commercial quality. We began by taking photos with a digital camera. In case you wonder, it's PauVictor's real room. The idea was PauVictor's although I wrote the English script and the text of all hotspots. The programming phase started afterwards, although during that part, many new photos were taken, many others were edited and others, discarded. We changed some things on the fly, but the main concept remained unchanged. We hoped to make a game with good interactivity and design a nice inventory system. We know Broken Door is short and doesn't have many items to be found, but we were a bit restricted by the 5MB limit (as we didn't want to lose picture quality by further compression) and lack of time, as I had lots of exams at the university during the development and PauVictor also had university and work at the same time. Once the core game was finished, we applied the finishing touches and did some good testing to remove some bugs we found (and now we don't know of any, but as usual, there must be one or two around). Oh! And the sounds were the real ones of that door, recorded in PauVictor's room! But the main thing is that Broken Door was a lot of fun to do, and hopefully fun to play too! We hoping players would need to use some logic and searching to win the game and also tried to mix a funny storyline in some hotspots (hope you guys found them all!). To finish this text, I want to congratulate all the rest of participants for their great projects and specially all the other winners! And a special mention for Zeek, who also won on our category, as it was the project I liked the most! Thanks! | |

| First of all, I want to say thanks to the authors MMB. Without this program at me the idea would not arise to become the programmer, that I now and do. Also, I thank MMB Team for interesting competitions, you see with the help they can be found out, on what is capable MMB and as the users own by her! Also I thank the friends as-master and Peter for support and testing and everyone, who was sick for us, for the Russians! To all participants and users MMB I wish successes, your hour necessarily will reach! | |
